Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs were surprise absentees from the Manchester United squad to face Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals in the concluding match of their Far East tour.
Both players picked up knocks in the win over Shenzhen on Monday and club officials said the extent of their problems would be confirmed after the final whistle.
Edwin van der Sar was also ruled out, as was Owen Hargreaves, who has still to make his debut for the Red Devils following his £18million move from Bayern Munich.
